CBD Use in Sports

Why YOU Should Check Out CBD Products!

Often, words such as ‘cannabis’ and anything to do with the same word are scrutinized, controversial, and sometimes even persecuted. But the fact of the matter is, these products – specifically Cannabidiol, or CBD – are not harmful at all. On the contrary, CBD products are being known as, and more importantly, proven to be, extremely beneficial and therapeutic for people of all walks of life. CBD products are used to soothe anxiety, stop pain, tamper neurological disorders, and even rid people of acne.

Take pain for example – CBD products are used to soothe all types of pain, including back pain, pains associated with cancer and the treatment of cancer, even sports injuries and workout recovery. Many sports-related injuries do not occur as a freak accident; instead, they occur over time. Playing a sport for years and years on end can often cause wear and tear on the same joints and muscles used for the sport. As athletes get older, joints especially can become inflamed and painful after exaggerated use. Cannabidiol is a very effective treatment to combat such inflammatory pain. An article published by the Rockefeller University Press, entitled “Cannabinoids suppress inflammatory and neuropathic pain by targeting a3 glycine receptors” lays it out for us. The authors of the article explain that while marijuana has been used for thousands of years to treat such pains, marijuana still brings about therapeutic AND psychoactive effects. Cannabinoids (CBD), on the other hand, do not consist of the psychoactive effects, but rather provide entirely therapeutic results for things like chronic pain in the neck and back originating in glycine receptors in the spine and other painful areas on or in the body.

If you’re still not convinced, read up on the Cannabidiol information provided by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) in a testimony to congress titled, “The Biology and Potential Therapeutic Effects of Cannabidiol”. While the NIDA focuses mainly on the uses of CBD in terms of treating diseases and drug abuse, the article complements the other research supporting CBD oil in sports. CBD oil has improved the quality of life for all different types of patients, such as those with Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s, and epilepsy, among others. While these diseases are not necessarily sports-caused, many of them prevent sports-lovers from doing what they love, and therefore CBD treatments can help former athletes continue to enjoy a sport in some manner, even if it’s just playing with their child or coaching a team.

From MMA fighters, like Nate Diaz, to retired NFL football players, like Leonard Marshall, CBD is taking the sports and athletics world by storm. Rule books are even changing or being looked at in hopes to change them where CBD is concerned, because it is THAT effective in pain relief, inflammation control, and healing the beaten body. Many sports still won’t allow it, but as new information comes out and players speak out, this is sure to change – AS IT SHOULD. CBD stands on it’s own merit and is not a narcotic drug. It’s just largely shadowed by the big scary word – “marijuana”. Blue Sky Farms Hemp-derived CBD isolate has nothing to do with THC or marijuana, folks.
