Why is CBD Suddenly a Cure-All?
CBD has received a lot of media attention lately. Is all the hype for nothing? Read on to learn what science has to say about cannabidiol.
CBD is a compound found in cannabis plants. Don’t let the word “cannabis” cause you to fear munchies and hallucinations; the psychoactive component of marijuana is called THC. CBD, and similar cannabinoids, do not make users high. They do, however, have some positive actions on the mind and body.
Chronic inflammation is a driving force in heart disease, skin conditions, and general aging. The endocannabinoid system within the human body can be activated by CBD. This action seems to have an anti-inflammatory effect. CBD has stronger antioxidants activity than vitamins D and C, and it boasts anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids.
Because it is anti-inflammatory, CBD can help fight depression, which is now considered to be caused, at least in part, by inflammation of the brain. CBD helps to activate the parasympathetic nervous system to reduce stress and anxiety. Its relaxing effects, paired with its ability to balance hormones, promotes deep sleep.
Controversy over medical marijuana came about in recent years as people used it to self-treat epilepsy. It as not only been proven to relieve seizures; the World Health Organization found evidence that CBD could treat very serious conditions. Among these illnesses are Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases, psychosis, and even cancers.
Today, we have science that supports the use of cannabis, but even in ancient cultures, it was used medicinally. Consider Traditional Chinese Medicine in relation to hemp or CBD. Chinese emperor Shen-Nung treated arthritis, constipation, pain, and rashes with hemp. Even up until the late 1800s, cannabis was commonly prescribed in America. Unfortunately, hemp became outlawed, and people traded in knowledge of its benefits for fear of alleged dangers.
CBD might seem too good to be true, but the results are in: it fights inflammation, improves mood, and helps improve chronic health conditions, or at least the symptoms of them if nothing else. Although it may seem like a recent phenomenon, people have been using hemp for millennia to treat a variety of illnesses. Most people have some health issue that they would like to fix naturally, and chances are high that CBD oil could be the help they have been needing.
Looking deeper, what is the common factor in many of the conditions it helps with? It seems that answer is inflammation. Inflammation really hurts people. We encourage you to do your own research.
